CLYMERS - Production has begun at the new 110-million gallon ethanol plant at Clymers.

"We are pleased to have our second ethanol plant operational," Mike Anderson, president and chief executive officer of The Andersons Inc., said in a news release. "We are especially happy to bring this operation to Cass County where we have a generous supply of corn as well as long-standing relationships with local growers. Additionally, we are glad to have the opportunity to support Indiana's commitment to be a major producer of alternative fuel."

Construction on the facility, the largest, dry-mill ethanol plant east of the Mississippi, began during the first quarter of 2006. ICM Inc., an industry leader in ethanol technology and plant construction, was the designer and general contractor of the $146 million project.

"Although poor weather conditions this year impacted construction, we are pleased the delay was minimized and we have a state-of-the-art facility in operation," said Anderson.

Along with the 110 million gallons of ethanol, the plant will produce 350,000 tons of distillers dried grains, and animal feed ingredient, annually.

The plant is owned by The Andersons Clymers Ethanol LLC and will be managed by The Andersons Inc.
