Salvation Army receives $1 million AM General donation for center in South Bend

MISHAWAKA - In May, construction will indeed begin on the Salvation Army's Kroc Center.

Officials weren't at all certain of that last week.

On Thursday, by surprise, it started to appear likely. Maj. Bob Webster was in the throes of the Salvation Army's annual red-kettle campaign, a mad Christmas dash to raise money for its youth and outreach programs.
