It’s difficult to deny the crowded feel of Interstate 65 as it heads north and south out of Lafayette.

But drivers are left to reconcile a couple of competing notions as decision time approaches for transportation plans that include road spending and the future of passenger rail through Lafayette.

The first study, via the U.S. Travel Association, painted a dire picture of conditions on a number of interstates, including I-65.
