Ethanol 'boom' appears to fizzle

REYNOLDS -- The prognosis for production of ethanol here is suddenly as varied as the weather during this year's corn-growing season.

Citing a recent drop in ethanol prices, VeraSun Energy Corp. announced Monday that it has suspended construction of its 110 million-gallon-per-year ethanol plant just northeast of the community dubbed "BioTown USA."
