Benton schools cut 7 teachers

Before voting to cancel seven teacher contracts Monday night, the Benton Community School Corp. board listened to several emotional testimonies from teachers, parents and students who spoke against the cuts.

"I can say without reservation that this has been the best year teaching music I have ever had," Deborah Paris, a music teacher at Prairie Crossing Elementary School, told the board. Her job was one of the seven cut.
