MIDDLEBURY -- Several freshman and middle school sports teams are back on the budget for Middlebury Community Schools, along with money for a few additional teachers and stipends for teachers, staff and administrators.
Superintendent Jim Conner explained to the school board Tuesday afternoon that the corporation will receive $725,120 in federal job stimulus funds, which it is allowed to use to supplant current teacher salaries. He said it is unusual for the government to allow supplanting salaries. When that happens, more money is freed up in the school corporation's general fund.
