MIDDLEBURY -- The Middlebury community supplied the money for Northridge High School freshman sports to play a year longer than the school corporation's budget allowed, but the teams are not set to continue this coming school year.
The corporation eliminated salaries for freshman team coaches more than a year ago to adhere to a tightened budget, but a grassroots campaign, "Save Our Sports," raised enough money to fund those coaches and teams through this school year.
That group dissolved, but gave leftover funds to the Northridge Athletic Booster Club, which formed last fall.
