Evansville's Casino Aztar saw its revenues drop last month, though its numbers held up better than the statewide average.

On Wednesday the Indiana Gaming Commission released its monthly revenue report for April. The reports show how many people visited each of Indiana's casinos last month, how much they wagered, and how much each facility kept in winnings and paid in taxes.

According to that report, last month Aztar's gaming revenue was $9.7 million, down 1.5 percent from the previous April. Total gaming revenue among all of the state's gaming facilities totaled $224.6 million, a drop of 6.1 percent from a year ago.

Most of what patrons wager gets paid out in winnings, but casinos keep a percentage for themselves as revenue.

Aztar patrons wagered $5.7 million — essentially the same amount they wagered a year earlier — on table games such as poker and blackjack. They also wagered $84.9 million on electronic gaming machines, down 3.9 percent from a year earlier.

Visitation also was off both locally and statewide last month.

The state report shows that 94,247 patrons visited Casino Aztar in April, down 5.3 percent from a year earlier.

Looking at all 13 of Indiana's gaming facilities as a whole, total visitation last month was 2 million, down 4.9 percent from a year earlier.

Last month Aztar paid $3.2 million in admissions and wagering taxes.
