MUNCIE -- It didn't take long for the city to begin taking heat about cuts in snow removal.

Superintendent of Public Works Jonathan Morehead announced in an article published Thursday that the street department no longer had the money to pay snow plow drivers overtime.

As a result, the city would not be able to salt streets or plow roads except for during the street department's regular business hours, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Late Thursday night, a small snow event passed through Muncie, only dusting the area but wreaking havoc on the streets for Friday morning commuters
