Sondra Gardetto was among the thousands of Americans shut out of the federal Health Insurance Marketplace's website last week because of problems surrounding its launch.

"It has been frustrating," Gardetto, manager of Health Insurance Services at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, said. "But I'm not too surprised, because I thought a lot of people would (visit the website) the first day."

One of two licensed brokers employed by Health Insurance Services, Gardetto's job, in part, involves helping people navigate the marketplace, a key part of the Affordable Care Act, and sign up for private health insurance.

Unfortunately, she was unable to do that last week because of widespread problems with the website -- www.healthcare.gov -- which, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, logged more than 6 million unique visitors Tuesday and Wednesday.
