MUNCIE — The president andCEOof IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital pledged Thursday that cutting 100 jobs at the Muncie hospital won’t have an adverse effect on patients.
“In no way will we put patient safety or patient quality at risk,” Mike Haley told The Star Press. “This will not impact patient care.”
Haley’s comments to The Star Press came as he and IU Health leadership statewide were announcing cuts in staffing at several of IU Health’s hospitals, including the Muncie facility that’s been part of the health care company since 2009.
The 100 jobs to be cut in Muncie are part of 800 jobs being cut systemwide. Haley and IU Health President and CEO Dan Evans said the cuts were being made to get spending in line with declining revenues.
