Laid-off Fort Wayne Community Schools teachers still wait to learn fate

About 73 laid-off teachers are still waiting to learn their fate as Fort Wayne Community Schools officials complete the staffing process for the 2010-11 school year.

At a school board meeting Monday, district officials said 89 teachers were still on the layoff list, though 16 had been given positions as full-time substitutes – jobs that place them in a single school all year but don’t include benefits.
