Voters overwhelmingly reject tax increase for Whitko Community Schools

Whitko Community Schools asked voters to approve raising property taxes to make up for the loss of state education funding – and received a resounding “no.”

The referendum defeated Tuesday would have allowed the school board to impose a property tax as needed, part of a “general fund safety net,” for the next seven calendar years.
