The city of Richmond is halving its donation of Economic Development Income Tax to Wayne County, but county towns have not strayed from their pledge to give half their EDIT money to the county for use by the Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County.

“We’re very much a firm believer in putting our half in,” Centerville Town Council president Dan Wandersee said last week. “Most of us small communities could not go it on our own. We need the county. We need the EDC.”

“We think it’s a good investment,” said Hagerstown Town Council president Rick Cole. “We talked about (giving less) when we first heard about Richmond but pretty quickly decided to stay with what we’ve been doing.”
