ANDERSON — Jobs continue to roll into Anderson. Friday’s announcement by Impact Container to bring 175 jobs is the sixth such announcement in a month.
The six businesses are estimated to bring 729 to 744 jobs. Here’s a brief timeline of recent economic development activity.
- July 24: Greenville Technologies Inc. announced plans to invest $21.4 million into a facility in Anderson. The facility will manufacture dashboard components for Honda and is expected to create 325 jobs.
- Aug. 3: Green Tire Reclamation had a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2506 Fairview Street. The company said they plan to hire between 15 and 30 people over the next three years.
- Aug. 10: Precision Strip announced plans to invest $7 million to expand its facility and operations. The company said the expansion will create at least 10 new jobs over the next three years.
- Aug. 16: Pending approval by Nestlé Headquarters and the Anderson City Council, Nestlé expressed interest in investing $166 million into its facility, and create an additional 104 jobs.
- Aug. 22: Xerox Corp. announced it will hire an additional 100 people for its Anderson call center. The company currently has 700 employees in the city.
- Aug. 24: Impact Container announced Anderson as the location for its new production facility. The company is expected to invest $1 million in production and manufacturing equipment, and create 175 jobs over the next four years.
