Purdue University could be forced to slash its budget by more than $45 million during the next 18 months.

That is the amount the Indiana Commission for Higher Education recommended the university system cut, according to an announcement this afternoon made in response to shortfalls in state tax revenues.

Earlier this month Gov. Mitch Daniels said he would reduce public college and university funding by $150 million during the current biennium budget, which lasts another year and a half.
