There's been a lot of talk about making government more efficient over the last year since the Kernan-Shepard report recommended ways to streamline local government.
One of the report's suggestions is to roll municipal elections from the odd-number years to the even-numbered years. This will save taxpayers money by consolidating the administrative costs of the municipal elections into other elections -- county, state and federal elections -- which are held on even-number years. In a four-year election cycle between presidential elections, this change would also give voters a welcome hiatus of two years without being bombarded by campaigns.
