SOUTH BEND - Local government reforms proposed in the Kernan-Shepard Commission received mixed reviews from local officials Monday.
Gov. Mitch Daniels recently announced he would like the Indiana General Assembly to consider most of the report's recommendations in the upcoming 2009 session.
The report, released last December, has 27 recommendations for streamlining local government. Some of the recommendations won't take a change in state law and some already have been adopted through House Enrolled Act 1001 and other legislation passed earlier this year.
