J&J Packaging Co. plans to close its Brookville thermoforming plant in Franklin County and transfer the operations to its Sunman headquarters facility about 30 miles away in Ripley County, Batesville radio station WRBI-FM 103.9 reported yesterday.

The company said most of the 321 workers in Brookville will be offered positions in Sunman, but about 30 jobs will be eliminated. The shift will start in October and be finished in January.

J&J Packaging, founded in 1899, manufactures carton/printing, paperboard and thermoformed-packaging products. It is a subsidiary of DLogistics North America Inc., a division of Germany-based D.Logistics AG.
