Language that would allow Monroe County officials to consider a 1 percent food and beverage tax is still included in a bill that passed the Indiana Senate earlier this week.

The local provision is part of a larger bill intended to bail out the Indianapolis Capitol Improvement Board, which operates that city's sports stadiums, by allowing increases in Marion County's alcohol, car rental, hotel and ticket taxes.
