ALBANY — Four residents of Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center have died of coronavirus disease and four more are hospitalized, the nursing home announced on Wednesday.
"The staff at Albany are devastated at the loss of resident lives due to complications related to this virus," the 102-bed facility said in a news release. "One life lost is too many. As you know, the elderly are extremely vulnerable as thousands of nursing homes across the country have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. The thoughts, prayers, and hugs of the Albany employees are extended to the families of all residents."
The nursing home opened a COVID-19 Special Care Unit after an outbreak of the disease last month.
Since the unit opened, 62 residents have tested positive, 39 of whom have recovered, the facility says.
In addition, 42 staff members have been infected with COVID-19, and 36 of those employees have fully recovered and have returned from quarantine.
