TERRE HAUTE - The Wabash Valley locations of Ivy Tech Community College continue to post record enrollment numbers. With more than 6,500 students enrolled across the Wabash Valley, local enrollment is up 12 percent compared to the fall semester last year.

"It is an exciting time for Ivy Tech Community College." Dr. Deanna King, vice chancellor of Academic Affairs, believes. "The growing numbers of students who walk through our doors are faced with all kinds of challenges. We are focused on delivering academic opportunities and experiences to help our students overcome those challenges and reach their educational goals. We have reviewed our processes and made adjustments in order to continue to provide optimized services and support to a larger number of individuals."

Planning began last year for the anticipated growth statewide and leadership implemented a number of cost-savings measures, capitalizing on the efficiencies as one statewide community college system. A variety of process improvements have been implemented to ensure the college system can handle its growth without significant additional overhead while continuing to keep tuition affordable.

Ivy Tech is seeing its highest building utilization in history. Within the Wabash Valley, prospective students are encouraged to take advantage of early priority registration as the college continues to identify new ways to meet the scheduling demands created by the record growth.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state's largest public post-secondary institution and the nation's largest singly-accredited statewide community college system with more than 130,000 students enrolled annually. Ivy Tech has campuses throughout Indiana. It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana.
