The fall semester began at Indiana University this week with university officials announcing a record enrollment on the Bloomington campus and the highest quality freshman class ever.

With a larger-than-expected freshman class of 7,340 and improved retention rate of returning students, IU's fall enrollment stands at 41,756, topping last year's record enrollment of 40,354. The student population includes 32,979 undergraduates and 9,854 graduate students.
