Northeast Indiana area, state jobless rates decline in October 2010

FORT WAYNE – Unemployment in the Fort Wayne metropolitan area is continuing a modest retreat. The jobless rate in October was 9.4 percent, down from 9.6 percent in September, preliminary figures show.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development report Tuesday said northeast Indiana’s workforce of more than 204,000 people saw 19,139 idle last month. A year ago in October, unemployment for the region that includes Allen, Wells and Whitley counties was 10.5 percent.
