MUNCIE -- A measure that would help bring back five laid off police officers remains in political purgatory after Monday night's city council meeting.
The city council voted 5-3 on a motion from Democratic council member Mary Jo Barton to table an ordinance that would add a $6 surcharge to local traffic tickets to help pay for the officers' salaries.
