South Bend task force looking at ways help Hispanic students

SOUTH BEND -- Hispanic students have among the highest dropout rates and the lowest graduation rates in the South Bend Community School Corp.

In 2010, the district reports, nearly 18 percent of them dropped out and only 62 percent graduated.

Hispanic students make up almost one out of every five students.

Now a task force of mostly Hispanic community leaders is trying to confront the challenges they face in the classroom.
