Purdue dorm fees going up 6% overall

Purdue University trustees approved a 6 percent average hike in room and board rates for the 2009-10 academic year Saturday, 1 percent larger than originally had been proposed.

That additional 1 percent will generate in excess of $830,000, revenue that will be used for scholarships -- a move made in anticipation of tight state funding in the next fiscal year.
