Scottsburg gaskets plant closing, laying off nearly 40

Holm Industries., a manufacturer of refrigeration gaskets, will close its Scottsburg plant in March, leaving nearly 40 workers jobless.

Holm, a part of Italy-based Ilpea Inc., blamed the closing on declining sales and the weak economy. The job cuts will occur in late March, the company said in a state filing.

The company also has a plant in Evansville.
