SOUTH BEND -- One hundred and twenty-two Title 1 instructional assistants in South Bend schools have received word that their jobs are being eliminated.
Superintendent James Kapsa said it recently came to his attention that the classroom aides cannot be paid through the Title 1 federal funding source.
Considering wages and benefits, it's a $2.1 million a year outlay for the district.
