Eastern Greene School staff members took advantage of a $20,000 early retirement incentive that was offered by the school board.
The retirements are effective at the end of the current school year.
The board also took action and approved the Reduction in Force (RIF) of one teacher, Brian Holland -- a business and computers teacher.
Originally, the board had expected to RIF four teachers, but the retirements helped to keep that number lower.
The cuts are based on a drop in enrollment and state funding.
By 2012, Superintendent Ty Mungle said Eastern Greene will see its budget reduced by nearly 10 percent, from $8.8 million down to $8 million.
That amount is set by the state based upon a school funding formula which Mungle said predicts a drop of 10 students per year over the next two years.
